THE HEART OF CALIFORNIA GOLD COUNTRY

Chances are, you’re interested in visiting Woodhaven for the lake in the summer or skiing in the winter. But no doubt, you’re also interested in all of the other unique experiences Calaveras County has to offer. And there’s so much it offers.

Calaveras County is a four-season travel destination located in California’s beautiful Gold Country and spectacular high Sierra. The town of Arnold, located between Lake Tahoe to the north and Yosemite National Park to the south, is called “the heart of the Sierra.” At the 4,000 foot elevation, you can pursue a variety of activities year round. You can even golf in the morning and ski in the afternoon, all with excellent easy highway access.

As you’re considering a Woodhaven visit, consider this: the Washington Post and U.S. Department of Agriculture ranked Calaveras County as number 14 among the most attractive counties in 48 U.S. states. (And Napa County only ranked 23!) If you haven’t been to Calaveras County, you need to come and see what you’ve been missing. If you’ve been here before, no doubt you’re wanting to return.

As comfortable as Woodhaven is, you might be inclined to just stay in. But of course, you’re going to want to swim, fish, sunbathe on a sandy beach, kayak, paddleboard, hike and bike – all of which you can do by just walking out the door.

No doubt, you’ll also want to explore Calaveras County, which has so much to discover and enjoy. If it’s winter, chances are those adventures will include skiing, snowboarding and building snow people. All of which can happily be done at Bear Valley Mountain Ski Resort, with its world-class slopes, just a short 40-minute drive from Woodhaven.

Getting To Woodhaven

Getting to Woodhaven is pleasant – unlike the unpredictable, hours-long, frustrating slog that is getting to Lake Tahoe from the Bay Area. Woodhaven is just a little over two hours away from the Bay. And the second half of the trip is a beautiful, peaceful drive along scenic Highway 4 – first through orchards and then winding through the picturesque Sierra foothills.
